Tuguegarao City - The Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Office 02 (DILG RO2) operationalizes its new banner and strategy, #R2GETHER orRegion 2Guarantees Every Task is Harmoniously done with Excellent Resultthrough the conduct of a 3-in-1 activity dubbed: Connect, Converge, Convene on June 3, 2016 at Villa Blanca Hotel, Tuguegarao City.


CONNECT. The activity was attended by 29 government offices and Local Resource Institutes in the region, primarily to connect with the mandate of the DILG being the primary catalyst of excellence in local governance. It was a perfect venue for acknowledging the role of development partnersin delivering technical assistance under the five (5) outcomes of the department, namely Accountable Transparent and Effective Local Governance; Business Friendly and Competitive LGUs; Socially Protective and Safe LGUs; Environment Protective Climate Change Adaptive and Disaster Resilient LGUs; and Strengthened Internal Organizational Capacity. The development partners under the 5 outcomes comprise theMulti-Stakeholder Advisory Committee (MSAC) of the Local Governance Regional Resource Center (LGRRC)-DILG RO2.


CONVERGE. The DILG RO2 through LGRRC2partnership with development partners was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing. The LGRRC2-MSAC is chaired by the DILG Regional Director John M. Castaňeda, CESO III. The MOA highlights the role of the members to promote a culture of knowledge sharing and learning within the region.


Another activity conducted on the same day and venue was the MOA signing between and among the Local Resource Institutes (LRIs) and DILG RO2 to implement Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS), one of the major programs of the department. Under the CSIS program, LRIs will conduct survey, measure clienteles’ satisfaction with regard to the services delivered by the LGU. The outputs of the LRIs will assist the target LGU in sustaining strengths and developing appropriate interventions for identified service delivery weaknesses. For this year, Isabela State University-Echague campus for LGU-San Mateo, Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya State University for LGU-Solano, Nueva Vizcaya are the identified LRIs, partnering DILG RO2 in implementing CSIS.


CONVENE. That same day, the 1st Disaster Preparedness Cluster Meeting was also conducted essentially to launch LISTONG Pamayanan and Pamilyang Pilipino under the Operation LISTO program of the department. This is an initiative of the department as the Vice Chair for Preparedness.


DILG RD John M. Castaňeda, CESO III emphasized in his message to the development partners the need for convergence in the development of policies and strategies to maximize resources and improve performance in implementing programs, projects and activities, which he called “the whole of government approach”. #R2GETHER
