
DILG RO2, TUGUEGARAO CITY - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office 2 conducted a ceremonial groundbreaking of a new office building in the DILG Regional Office 2 on April 19, 2024.

The ceremonial groundbreaking event was graced by Undersecretary for Local Government Marlo L. Iringan who represented Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin C. Abalos Jr., Rep. Joseph L. Lara, and Regional Director Agnes A. De Leon. Other attendees included Cagayan Provincial Director Maria Loida M. Urmatam, Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Director Catherine G. Allam-Miranda, Quirino OIC-Provincial Director Karen Joy C. Pablico-Castro, Division Chiefs, Field Officers, and Regional Office staff.

Officials and representatives from partner agencies such as the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) were also present along with officials from National Government Agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
During the ceremony, Usec. Iringan conveyed the Sec. Abalos’s gratitude to Rep. Lara for funding the construction of the new DILG office building. He emphasized that the new building symbolizes the Government’s commitment to the welfare of its civil servants.
“The building should inspire us to work harder for our country and our communities. This will be a refuge in times when our Field Officers and personnel will be burdened and wearied. More than that, this will be where they will huddle together to better deliver the functions and mandates of the Department,” Usec. Iringan said.

Cagayan 3rd District Representative Lara expressed his intention to assist National Government Agencies such as the DILG to have better facilities to improve the productivity of civil servants. He stressed that this is his way of bringing permanent solution to perennial problems.

Regional Director De Leon commended Rep. Lara for his initiative in funding the new office building. She emphasized that having an office building represents the stability of an agency. RD De Leon also expressed hope that other congressmen in the region would support the DILG by providing infrastructure projects that promote excellence in local governance.
