
TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN —Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office II conducted a discussion on Republic Act 9710, also known as the Magna Carta Law of Women, during the agency's Monday Convocation last March 11, 2024.
Local Government Operations Officer V (LGOO V) Atty. Kymverlie P. Mallo of the DILG R2 Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD) led the discussion of this law as a proud advocate of women’s empowerment and gender equality.
According to her, the state shall recognize the contributions of women in nation-building, and the government must safeguard all women, especially those who belong to marginalized sectors.
The discussion was aimed towards reminding all DILG RO II officials and personnel, especially the women of DILG RO2, on the importance of R.A. 9710 and how it safeguards them from any form of violation, inequality, and discrimination. The engagement also highlighted the rights given to all women, including employment, recognition, protection, inclusivity, and more.
Moreover, the Department takes pride in this program as it is one of the many initiatives of DILG RO2 in celebrating the 2024 National Women's Month. Furthermore, it paved the way for continuously reminding the agency's employees of the efforts of all women and their participation and ownership of the bill.
