In continuation of the series of forum under the initiative: Project #TIWALA: Teenage Pregnancy Interventions Focusing on the Welfare, Awareness and Developing Life Skills and Appropriate Behaviors, to address the alarming incidence rate of teenage pregnancies in the region, the Local Governance Regional Resource Center 02 has conducted the third leg of the Teenage Pregnancy Forum at the MCNP-ISAP Gymnasium on October 19, 2023.

In his welcome message, Mr. Christian R. Guzman, President of MCNP – ISAP expressed his sincerest gratitude to the DILG and partner agencies for its initiative in conceptualizing a project that will help address the increasing incidence rate of teenage pregnancy and provide an informative and interactive platform to students. He also said that he strongly supports the initiative of the Technical Working Group of Project #TIWALA believing that the youth are hopes for a brighter tomorrow. Moreover, the School President also urged the students to focus on their studies and he emphasized the importance of receiving their hard-earned diploma on time.

The Teenage Pregnancy Forum was attended by more than 300 students from the Junior High School Department and Senior High School Department. The Forum featured topics on Teenage Pregnancy Data in the region discussed by Miss Shiarlaine C. Donato of the Commission of Population Development, Fertility Awareness and Effects of Teenage Pregnancy expounded by Dr. Anabelle S. Sanchez and lastly, Interventions on Sexual and Reproductive Health of Adolescents in Region 02 discussed by Dr. Melani L. Perez of the Commission on Population and Development.

The Project #TIWALA: Teenage Pregnancy Interventions Focusing on the Welfare, Awareness and Developing Life Skills and Appropriate Behaviors, a collaborative project among the concerned NGAs and LRIs thru the initiative of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 02. Said project consists of a set of strategies in the hope of helping alleviate the incidence rate of teenage pregnancy in the region, and eventually, nationwide.
