CABARROGUIS, QUIRINO – The Quirino Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) selection committee convened for the evaluation and deliberation of the Civil Society Organization (CSO) and private sector applicants for membership to the council on February 07, 2023.

Chaired by DILG Provincial Director Salvacion Z. Baccay, with members composed of Provincial Administrator-Carmelita B. Jimenez, Provincial Social Welfare Officer-Agaton M. Pagbilao, Jr., and Ms. Ofelia Fe Mariano, Chairperson-Philippine Red Cross Quirino Chapter, the panel will screen prospective applicants based on local guidelines and consistent with national level eligibilities, giving preference and priority to organizations already engaged or with undeniable competence in DRRM initiatives and policy development.

Eventually, the selection committee endorsed a total of five (5) applications with three (3) coming from Non-Government Organizations, two (2) Community-Based Organizations and one (1) Private Sector, subject to final approval by the PDRRMC chairperson, Gov. Dakila E. Cua.

Prior to the selection process, LGOO II Ronel Q. Oandasan, presented the NDRRMC Memorandum Circular No. 07 series of 2022 which sets the guidelines for the selection process. He also highlighted importance of CSOs, private groups, volunteers, and the local communities to the government’s disaster risk reduction efforts.

The CSO selection is in keeping with broadening representation in the development of local DRRM plans by ensuring citizen participation in the preparation, execution, and reporting of all disaster risk reduction and management related programs and projects.
