SAGUDAY, QUIRINO – In order to identify and prioritize primary concerns and issues of vulnerable sectors in the municipality of Saguday, Quirino, DILG-Quirino oriented the Local Government Unit of Saguday on Capacitating Urban Communities for Peace and Development (CUCPD) Programon December 10, 2021 at the ALERT Center, Municipal Compound, Saguday, Quirino.

The CUCPD is one of the strategies being implemented under Executive Order No. 70, Institutionalizing the Whole-of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating a National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Directing the Adoption of a National Peace Framework. It also serves as a platform for convergence and collaboration among all stakeholders in the local level in championing the drive for improving institutional capacity of LGUs to undertake peace-building programs to solve the prevailing and emerging issues of the various sectors of society. For 2021, Region 02 has five (5) CUCPD target LGUs including the municipality of Saguday.

The orientation served as avenue to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the LGU in addressing the developmental gaps and primary issues affecting the vulnerable sectors, composed of Youth and Students, Labor, Urban Poor and Women’s group.

Part of it involved reviewing existing plans, policies, programs and activities in relation to other existing mechanisms implemented in addressing issues and gaps, through the sectoral consultation segment.

Attendees and participants to the orientation were Saguday’s local chief executive, Hon. Marcelina M. Pagbilao, LGU Department Heads and sectoral representatives. It was facilitated by DILG Quirino personnel, Provincial Director, Salvacion Z. Baccay, Cluster Head, Marietta F. Abalus, Saguday MLGOO, Princess Joy R. Cardenas, and CUCPD provincial focal person, LGOO V, Carolyn C. Mateo.
