TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN – “The Province of Cagayan will host the Barangay Drug Clearing Program Summit for Local Chief Executives on April 2021.” This was announced by PDEA Regional Director Joel B. Plaza during the Regional Oversight Committee Meeting held on March 18, 2021 at the PDEA Regional Office. According to RD Plaza, the activity aims to strengthen further the implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program with the support of the Mayors and Punong Barangays. Top officials from PDEA and other line agencies are expected to grace the activity.

Under the Cagayan Comprehensive Anti-Illegal Drugs Program, the concerned National Government Agencies, Local Government Units, and partner organizations are expected the capacitate the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils, ensure that workplaces are drug-free, enhance the implementation of the Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program, create the Barangay Information Network, and conduct continuing legal education for law enforcers. Likewise, they are to ensure the supply and demand reduction, as well as the establishment of Balay Silangan in every city/municipality. The objective of the said efforts is to attain the "drug-cleared" status of the Province of Cagayan.

The activity was attended by representatives of line government agencies, including the Provincial Government of Cagayan. DILG Cagayan Provincial Director, LGMED Assistant Division Chief Maybelle Anog, Provincial Focal Person Renz Angelo P.
