TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN – The Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive and Award (LTIA) Regional Awards Committee (RAC) chaired by the Department of the Interior and Local Government conducted a region-wide table assessment and on-site evaluation to determine the best Lupon in Region 2.

Established pursuant to Section 406 (b) of the LGC of 1991, the LTIA institutionalizes a system of granting economic benefits and other incentives to the Lupong Tagapamayapa that demonstrates exemplary performance in settling disputes at the grassroots level.

Nominees from the Provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya were thoroughly evaluated on March 8-11 and 15-16, 2022, respectively based on their performance and accomplishments in five (5) major criteria, specifically: (a) Efficiency in operations; (b) Effectiveness in securing KP objectives; (c) Creativity and resourcefulness of the Lupong Tagapamayapa; (d) Area of facility of KP activities and (e) Financial or non-financial support.

As a result of the assessment, Barangay Osmeña, City of Ilagan was declared the winner for the city category, while Barangay Centro Sur in Sto. Niño, Cagayan bagged the top spot for 1st to 3rd class municipality category and Barangay Bintawan Norte in Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya won the 4th to 6th class category. All winners at the regional level will be automatically considered nominees to the national LTIA.

The Cagayan Valley Regional Awards Committee is headed by DILG-LGMED Chief Maybelle E. Anog, with members from partner agencies namely, Asst. Regional Prosecutor, Atty. Gierne Gail Q. Discipulo-Guzman, Prosecuting Atty. Gloria Anastasha Lasam-Aquino, Prosecuting Atty. Robin B. Baricaua, PIA Information Officer Jan Karl C. Coballes, DILG LGOO V Jasmine O. Aresta and PLt. Col. Saturnino F. Soriano.
