14 out of 98 LGUs in region 02 passed the 2014 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) assessment. These LGUs pass all the core assessment areas, namely Good Financial Housekeeping, Disaster Preparedness and Social Protection and at least one of the essential areas: Peace and Order, Environmental Management and Business Friendliness and Competitiveness.

“98 LGUs in the region accepted the challenge of raising the bar of local governance, however, only 14 LGUs made it. From SGLG assessment phase up to now, there has been a show of convergence of the public and private sectors, thus worthy to hold a gathering for our partners, the LGUs and the CSOs”, OIC RD Marlo Iringan emphasized in one of the conferences with the CSOs and Regional Team.

Along with the prestige, the 2 Provinces, 1 City, and 11 Municipalities of the region shall then be entitled to the Performance Challenge Fund of the department and access to other national performance based programs.

DILG RO2 will confer the 14 LGUs on August 24, 2015 at Zen Hotel, Santiago City, with no less than the Honorable SILG MAR ROXAS is expected to grace the event. Same day, a CSO forum will also be hosted to provide a venue for CSOs to maximize their significant role in governance through the Bottom Up Budgeting Program (BuB).

Patent that citizens engaged in development efforts from planning to monitoring, and LGUs hurdled the “tapat at mahusay na pamamalakad” of the national government, DILG RO2 tagged the event as “Pag-angat ng antas, Ugnayang Pinalakas”.
