All smiles from the participants and training team during the updating of CDP of Burgos, Isabela.

UPI, GAMU, ISABELA – True to its mandate in assisting and ushering Local Government Units (LGUs) to become more competitive, responsive, and efficient institutions, DILG-Isabela provincial office conducted a training-workshop for the updating of the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) and Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) of Burgos, Isabela on December 13-17, 2021 at Piazza Zicarelli Hotel, Gamu, Isabela.

The activity was participated by a total of 30 participants composed of officials and functionaries of the municipality, representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Department of Education (DepEd) operating in the municipality and Civil Society Organization (CSO).

CDP is a mandated plan of LGUs which promotes the general welfare of its inhabitants. As a comprehensive plan, it embraces all development sectors, namely: social, economic, environmental, infrastructure and institutional.

Considering that the country is vulnerable to natural disasters, mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation concerns to mandated plans is indispensable. With the discussion on CDRA, the planning team is provided with deeper understanding on natural hazards and its impacts in the locality.

During the activity, Engr. Corazon D. Toribio, CESO V, Provincial Director of DILG-Isabela, reminded the participants that the training-workshop is only the beginning of the actual formulation of their CDP. Meanwhile, Ms. Janine Balilia, Municipal Planning Development Coordinator, facilitated the action planning to ensure that each sector will be guided on their respective tasks on the updating of their CDP.

The activity served as an initial step for the updating of the municipality’s CDP. The municipality targets to finish its CDP by first quarter of CY 2022.
