The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 2 (DILG R2) through the Finance and Administrative Division – Personnel Section (PS) in coordination with DOH conducted a free back-to-back Tuberculosis (TB) and Human Immunodeficiency (HIV) Screening on July 16, 2021. This is one of the efforts of DOH to ensure early detection of the said diseases and raise awareness for such causes.

DOH team personnel Dr. Janet Ibay and Ma’am Mannilyn D. Allavun cited that the rationale behind the tandem screening between TB and HIV screening is to raise awareness because people with HIV has compromised immune system that can be an opportunity for tuberculosis to infect a person with HIV. Tuberculosis can also be prevalent in elders and smokers. DILG R2’s Finance and Administrative Division Chief Ive B. Saludez is hoping for the conduct of other health screening to ensure the robust health of DILG R2 personnel and promote health awareness.

The Tuberculosis Screening was availed by forty-one (41) DILG Regional Office personnel and twenty-three (23) volunteered for HIV Screening. All volunteers tested negative for HIV. The results of the TB Screening will be available a week after the screening.

DILG R2 is thankful to DOH for bringing closer a quality health care deserved by every Filipino people.
