The Province of Isabela intensified its efforts to combat Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Acting Governor Hon. Faustino G. Dy, III signed an Executive Order creating a Provincial Inter-agency Task Force on Coronavirus, now called COVID-19, during the emergency meeting on February 12, 2020 at Blue Room, Provincial Capitol, Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela.
The creation of the task force aims to harmonize efforts of all concerned agencies and institutions to prevent and combat the entry the disease in the province.
During the meeting, Isabela Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Nelson Paguirigan, presented the plan of action of the province to prevent the entry of and combat COVID-19.
The plan of action was duly approved during the joint meeting of Isabela Local Health Board (LHB), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 on February 13, 2020 at G.N.F. DY Amphitheater, Provincial Capitol, Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela.
Members of the task force, LHB, PDRRMC, representatives from the different national government agencies, health practitioners, partner media and other stakeholders attended the said meeting.
A public forum was also conducted in the venue wherein the attendees gave suggestions and aired clarifications on COVID-19.
During the forum, Acting Governor Dy sought the support of the participants in strengthening the Information, Education and Communication activities of the province on COVID-19. Also, he reminded everyone to be responsible in sharing information on COVID-19.
Also, DILG Isabela Provincial Director Engr. Corazon D. Toribio informed the body that all barangays in Isabela already created their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) in compliance to DILG Memorandum Circular No, 2020-023 stating the amended guide to action against COVID-19.
BHERTs will be mobilized to help implement prevention and mitigation, preparedness and response measures for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, a Press Conference ensued after the meeting at Green Room, Provincial Capitol, Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela.
Isabela Official spokesperson on COVID-19 and Provincial Information Officer Atty. Elizabeth C. Binag said that the province is still free from COVID-19 cases.
“Wala pa ring NCOV case dito sa probinsya ng Isabela. Isabela is still NCoV-free”, Atty. Binag reiterated.
A panel composed of Dr. Paguirigan, Atty. Binag, Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) Coordinator Ms. Charmaine Barangan, DILG Isabela Provincial Director Engr. Corazon D. Toribio and Isabela Provincial Police Office Provincial Director PCol Mariano C. Rodriguez answered the questions raised by various media practitioners.
