
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Quirino together with the Provincial Government steered an innovative advocacy of educating and enhancing the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Officials of Quirino through the conduct of an SK Summit titled “Tara! Let’s Meet up for #IGNITESK (Inspiring Greater and New Ideals towards a Transformed and Empowered Sangguniang Kabataan).
The activity was designed for the SK Officials for them to be equipped with the knowledge, ideas, right attitudes and values necessary when facing different issues that challenge them as members of the youth and as government officials as well.
A total of 732 SK Officials from the six (6) municipalities of Quirino participated in the activity which was conducted on-site on the following dates:

Topics discussed include Work Attitude and Values Enhancement, Anti-Illegal Drugs, Alcoholism, Teenage Pregnancy, Watershed and Forest Protection, Ecological Solid Waste Management, Clean, Green and Bloom, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Alternative Learning System and Livelihood Programs. Representatives of the different partner NGAs and other concerned LGU Offices served as Resource Speakers.
Hon. Marcelina M. Pagbilao, Municipal Mayor of the Municipality of Saguday, reiterated the importance of the SK in local governance. She propelled the youth to be active in their endeavors as public servants. She also emphasized that the SK must value the development priorities of the present administration to align local efforts with that of the national thrusts.
Governor Junie E. Cua expressed his desire for the SK to keep these advocacies burning in their hearts and put into practice what they have learned through the youth development programs and activities being implemented in the province. # LGOO II Blessing Grace G. Sagun
