CAGAYAN VALLEY – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 02 nominated seven municipalities across the region that have exemplary performances in good governance for the incoming National Knowledge Forum set on November 21 -22, 2018.

Alcala, Gonzaga, and Ballesteros in Cagayan, Ramon, and Angadanan in Isabela, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya, and Saguday, Quirino topped other towns in Cagayan Valley in implementing the projects of DILG.

These Local Government Units (LGUs) recorded valuable accomplishments in the implementation of locally-funded projects including SALINTUBIG or Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat, Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB), and Assistance to Disadvantage Municipalities (ADM).

Their efforts in realizing these projects got the nods of the evaluators from DILG Region 02 and nominated them to become presenters in the forum.

Started this August 23, national representatives from DILG Central Office – Office of the Project Development Services, Civil Society Organization, and DILG 02 – Regional Project Management Office engineers personally conducted a site visit to validate and verify the performances and projects of said LGUs.

They were judged based on several criteria which include timeliness (20%), quality management (25%), sustainability (20%), transparency (15%), funds management (20%), and a 5% bonus point in innovation.

Out of seven, only one LGU per project category will be selected to represent in the national level.

A national validation will be made on September 18-19, 2018 to finalize the list of presenters from each region.

Meanwhile, selected national winners in the sectors of Water Supply, Local Access Roads, and Disaster Risk Reduction will be announced at the forum to share their best practices, challenges, and strategies in implementing the projects in their respective areas.

Aside from sharing ideas, practices, and programs, the activity aims to recognize LGUs that proved good governance in delivering quality and sustainable infrastructure projects and eventually inspire and influence other LGUs to perform from their previous bests.

With the theme “Pamahalaang Lokal Tungo sa Makabuluhang Pagbabago”, the forum is part of celebrating the 27th year of Local Government Code of the Philippines while capacitating and nurturing LGUs in the country. # (Written by KC D. Sucuano/DILG 02 – RPMO)
