San Mariano, Isabela once again garnered awards during the 14th Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) National Conference on March 5-7, 2018 at Monet Grand Ballroom, Novotel Manila Araneta Center.

It bagged 2nd and 3rd places in the Searches for Best CBMS Advocacy Video and Photo, respectively.

The CBMS Special Awards was launched in 2012 in the Philippines by the CBMS Network Team of the De La Salle University-Angelo King Institute for Economic and Business Studies (DLSU-AKI) to document and recognize best practices of Local Government Units in the implementation and use of CBMS.

The winners were selected based on online voting (50%) and on-site votes of the delegates of the conference (50%).

Naguilian, Isabela was also recognized as finalist in the both searches.

Meanwhile, the conference, themed Reducing Inequalities through CBMS, aimed to provide a venue for knowledge sharing and policy discussion on latest developments and strategies in reducing inequalities at the national and local level in the midst of the call for other equally important concerns and issues in disaster risk reduction, migration and meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The activity was participated by different CBMS practitioners, LGU Functionaries and Representatives from different National Government Agencies and Non-Government Organizations.

CBMS is an organized process of data collection, processing, validation and integration of data in the local development processes.

It aims to improve local governance, foster transparency and accountability in resource allocation and empower communities to proactively participate in the development process by providing policy makers and program implementers with a regular source of information that can be used to track micro impacts of macroeconomic shocks on the vulnerable groups in the society.
