Department of the Interior and Local Government, R2 Regional Director Jonathan Paul M. Leusen Jr. commended the Provincial Disaster Disk Reduction Management Counci (PDRRMC)l for the Awarding and Turn-over Ceremony of Preparedness and Response Equipment to Barangay/Municipal/Provincial DRRMCs on January 30, 2018, 1pm at the Capitol Gymnasium, Cabarroguis, Quirino.

 

RD Leusen expressed his praise for the ingenuity of the Provincial Government through the PDRRMC to help the lower level DRRMCs and support their needs by giving the said equipment. He encouraged everybody to take part in activities that will ensure a safe environment.

A total of 17.5 million worth of equipment sliced from the 49 million Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Fund (LDRRMF) were given to the various councils at different levels. An amount of 10.8 million was spent for the purchase of four (4) units Ambulance given to the Quirino Provincial Medical Center and the three (3) District Hospitals located at Maddela, Diffun and Aglipay while a total 6.7 million was allocated for the purchase of various preparedness and response equipment for different offices.

The BDRRMCs received megaphone, flashlights and Early Warning System and Information Boards. The Bureau of Fire Protection, the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Philippine Army received metal detectors, basic first aid kit, trauma bag, lumens flashlight and helmets. National agency members of the PDRRMC and all offices of the PLGU also received various equipment according to their office needs, most common of which are helmet, handheld radio, basic first aid kit, metal detector and flashlight.

The six (6) MDRRMCs of each municipality in the province were given Drone, VHF Base Radio and Hygiene Kits. The recipients are the Rescue 702 of Diffun, Rescue 712 of Saguday, Rescue 104 of Maddela, Rescue 105 of Nagtipunan, Rescue 621 of Cabarroguis and Rescue 101 of Aglipay.

Governor Junie E. Cua stated in his message that although these equipment are gifts of the Provincial Government to the people to keep them prepared and safe in times of disasters. He stressed the importance of supporting the needs of the community and the partner agencies by providing such equipment which will help them in various disaster operations. He also hopes that the response/rescue equipment should never be used.

The Municipal Mayors, the Department Heads, Punong Barangays and Volunteers attended the program. The activity opened with the blessing of equipment by Father Johnny Valdez, Asst. Parish Priest of St. Mark and ended with the acceptance of the key of responsibility by the recipients and signing of Memorandum of Understanding by the receients of ambulance witnessed by DILG OIC Provincial Director Salvacion Z. Baccay.

Mrs. Jesusa N. Leal, PDDRRMO made all these possible through the support of the PDRRMC with the efforts extended by the volunteers in support to its aim of making this community a safe place for dwelling.

In a separate message, RD Leusen and Governor Cua shared one common vision for the officials, employees and volunteers present during the ceremony- a safe and disaster-resilient Quirino Province.
